Italian and cross-border succession planning
In Italy, the culture of succession planning is not as widespread as in other European countries and in the Anglo-Saxon world.
Suffice to say that in Italy only 7% of successions are settled by will. This results in courts being “inundated” with thousands of disputes between family members over matters relating to the succession of a relative’s assets.
At FBA, we have dedicated ourselves to the in-depth study of all succession issues, starting from classic civil law practices, such as wills and donations, but adding new ones, such as the use of company vehicles, family agreements and trusts.
After mapping their assets and learning about the composition of their family, including “extended” family, our firm provides customers with an advisory service to plan their succession in order to avoid disputes between heirs and the dispersal of wealth. We also handle successions with foreign elements (foreign assets, “international families”, etc.).
